Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

Today was a special Author and Cartoonists birthday. A birthday of a man who wrote the most wonderful children's books accompanied by the most magical and creative illustrations under the pseudonym "Dr. Seuss." He has influenced everyone's childhood/ adulthood in some way or another and titles such as "The Grinch, The Cat in the hat, The Lorax, Fox in socks..." have all become second nature to us.

The learners of Kirstenhof Primary School were allowed to wear a special hat/ mask or hair piece that reminded them of one of the stories or poems that Dr. Seuss wrote. They came to school all looking fabulous with their beautiful head-gear. Some handmade, some bought, some found around the house.

The learners in Grade 3D read a piece of their favourite story or poem to the class to explain why they had their certain headpiece on and which character it represented. We had a lot of fun doing this and listened intently to one another's extracts.

At the end of the day we had a special treat of watching a snippet of "The Lorax." The learners were very excited and enjoyed their special end to the day. :)

From Grade 3D, we would like to wish Dr. Seuss a Happy Happy Birthday! (He would have been 111 years old if he were still with us today)

All dressed in our headgear with our favourite Dr. Seuss books :)
